Final

My Car

For my final I decided to create a car. I knew it would be a daunting task although there are a lot of tutorials out there that teach you the techniques you need to know it would still be very time consuming. The techniques I needed to create the car are very simple. The two main tools I used to are the B-spline tool to draw around it and get it to the correct shape then the bridge tool to link it all together and create the car.

1) I started off by finding the blue prints for the car I was going to make. I then loading them into C4D and placed them in the correct position. Below it shows a screen shot of the 3 images I would need to create my car.

2) I then used the B-spline tool to follow the lines on the images. Using the select tool to move any points and lines that weren't in the correct place's according to the image. A lot like a very complex dot to dot. Here's a quick screen shot of one half of my bonnet.

3) I then used the mirror tool to create the other side of the bonnet and anything else that needed to be symmetrical. I also noticed at this point its quite hard to see whats going on in the images so I decided to render each part as I made it.

4) Once I had finished the long and tedious job of creating the front of the car it was time to finish the rest of the outer frame. But first I will explain how I created the front. I used the same two techniques as I did in the first and second picture (B-spline and bridge technique) to create the shape. But I then used the two extrude and extrude inner tools to make the holes where the lights , lower and upper grill would go. After doing that I added a basic red material just to make it a bit more interesting.

5) Once I had created the front I went onto making the rest of the car outer shell. I found out a really good tool for creating anything that needed a hole or a gape in it. Its called the Boole tool. This tool basicly removes an object from another object so I was able to create and hole or gape. For example I was able to make a hole for the front and back window, a hole for the car wheels to go into and I hole for lights to go into. This combined with the extrude and extrude inner tool I was able to make anything I needed.
Below I show my final car outer shell finally created after HOURS of work and a quick example of what the Boole tool does. I also removed the red material as I realized it really wasn't necessary.

6) after that I wanted to put the wheels in. I did this by simply creating a cylinder, putting it to the correct size and shape I wanted and then put another cylinder inside of it and using the boole tool to hollow it out. I then got a new cylinder and placed it inside of the hole. once it was in I ticked the fillet box to make the inside cylinder slightly rounded on the edge's.

7) I then added the doors and window's in by following the blue prints to get the shape and then using the bridge tool to link it all together. I made the door handles by creating a cube making it into a rectangle.
I then made it editable and removed side on the back and the side on the bottom.

8) I then had to create the grills at the front of the car (upper and lower grill)
This was quite simple to do. I simply added a cube and made it into a rectangle. I then turn't on fillet and put it to the correct size I wanted. I did this twice once for the bottom and once for the top. But once you had done one you could just copy and paste it then re-size the second one. So it only had the front and top side.

9) Once I had finished creating my car it was time to create the scene. I wanted to recreate a car show room. So I created a cube and took the front side off and placed the car inside of the cube. That made the room I then added a light, floor and camera. I then downloaded a plugin called Vray this program is used by professionals to create photo realistic modeling work. At the moment I have not put any materials on but Here is a quick image of my scene so far.

10) I then finally added the materials. I used Vray advanced materials to make my materials.
There is not really much to say about the materials apart from I just played around until I found something I liked. For the Lights on the front I just made a simple material using diffuse layer 1 to change the colour.
I then added a luminosity to that colour to give it a slight glow. For the tires I just got a made a simple black material. For the metal and glass I downloaded a basic metal and glass material of the internet. I then changed it slightly to make it look right for my car. For the stand I just made a simple green material added a strong reflection to it. This made it looked slightly light a dark green marble I thought.

That is how I created my car, and below is my final outcome:

Portal Cube Remake

Portal Cube Remake

This is my attempt at a portal cube. The main tool I used for this project was the Boole tool. I used this tool to create the shape of my cube by getting a cube then putting a smaller cube inside of it to make it hollow. I then made a cross out of rectangles to make the gap between the 4 corners. I then got a tube made it really fin and put it to the correct place. Once I had made the object it was time to add materials.
I made the materials by using the reflection, transparency and specular. I just played around with the different effects and opacity until I found something I liked. One effect that I used and found really effective is the fresnel effect.

My final outcome

First C4D Animation

First C4D Animation

I wanted to create a C4D animation so I decided to start of simple. I started by making a circle and rectangle then added them to a Spline mask. Once I had done that I simply moved the key frame to the end point and moved the rectangle off the circle so when I played it looks like the circle is being made.
I then copied and pasted this, rotated it, made one of the circle slightly bigger then the last and moved the starting frame slightly forward so it ends just after the first one ends. I did this twice so I had a total of three circles.I then added a different colour to each circle and then added a camera and rendered from frame 0 to 60.

Grass

Grass

I was looking into environments and how I would go about creating a environment.
I started of with one of the most common and probably the most useful.
I made my grass by using the hair tool. First of all of placed a cube and put it to size. I then cut it into segments of 50. After doing that I made the cube editable and put on the polygon tool. After doing that I selected the top side which I would be putting the grass on and used the magnet tool to create lumps and dips in the cube. I then used the add hair object and selected fur.
I then put 35,000 on fur amount, 8 on randomness and changed the length to what I thought looked right.
Here is the final outcome of my grass.

Ball

After Finishing my ship I went home and started experimenting with some different C4D tools and effects I decided to create a ball using the stuff I learnt.

I started off by dropping a sphere into my scene. I then went to the attributes manager and selected hemisphere and changed the segment's to 100. I then made the sphere editable by pressing C.
I then used the selection tool to select the parts of the polygon I wished. I then deleted the selected parts.
After doing that I used the extrude tool to give the object some depth. I then duplicated the sphere and rotated it by 180 degrees to create a full circle. once I had my full sphere with the gapes I had previously made I put another sphere inside of the first one. After doing that it was time to put colours and effects to it. I made a new material, added a glow and colour to it and dragged it onto the inner sphere to create the inner glow effect. I then did the same to the outer sphere but didn't add a glow and made the colour darker. My final outcome is shown below followed by the same sphere duplicated, rotated and colours changed.

Cinema4D 3D Modelling

My cinema4D 3D modelling

Seeing as this was my first time using Cinema4D I needed to start simple before I went onto more complex work. I started of by making some 3D text, adding a light source and putting a flooring down.

I then went onto making something a bit more complex. Basic shapes, I did this by using the object tool. After making the shapes I placed them and then added a material (colour) to them. After doing that I added a light source to them and added shadow's. After doing that I finished the picture off by adding a slight reflection to the shapes.

Once I finished making my shapes I had released it was time for something a bit more complex using the techniques I previously learnt. I went on to making two ipods and adding a text in the background.
The only new technique I needed to make this was the Load image tool which I used to add the screens and jog wheel's.

The next week we were given the task to create a fictional space ship using Cinema 4D. I created my ship by using a few different tools. I created a cube first of all using the object tool. I then made it the right size and made it editable. After doing that I could then use the polygon tool combined with the extrude and extrude inner tool to create the wings, cockpit, engine's and tail. Once I had finished creating the base shape of the plane in cube form I had to make it rounded. I did this by adding HyperNURBS to the ship. Once I had finished making the ship I made an enviroment, I did this by making a new material, adding a cloud texture to it, Changing the colour to gray and then finaly applying it a sky box. After I had made the enviroment I made a material for the ship, this was quite simple all I did was get two colours combind them and add a few simple effects to them.
